Students in Williams Valley Elementary School are benefitting from new programming promoting positive behavior and healthy choices. The VIKES (Voice, Integrity, Kindness, Excellence, Success) Spirit schoolwide initiative encourages and rewards good student behavior through recognition and incentives. Additionally, free training provided by the Northern Dauphin County YMCA, Elizabethville, aims to give students the tools to combat bullying and illegal drug use. According to an article in the Republican Herald, the programming includes “Bully Proof Kit” for second grade, “Botvin Life Skills” for third grade, “Too Good for Drugs” for fifth grade, and “Too Much to Lose” in fourth and fifth grade.
