Project Search: Internship program for students with disabilities starts at Honesdale High School

The start of the 2018-19 school year was the beginning of Project Search at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Project Search is an initiative that has been in the works for two years by Wayne Highlands School District, Wallenpaupack Area School District and Western Wayne School District. Project Search is a national program designed to help individuals with disabilities find meaningful and competitive employment. The Project Search at Wayne Memorial Hospital has 7 interns from Honesdale High School and Wallenpaupack High School. Each intern will have three 10-week placements through various departments of Wayne Memorial Hospital. The internships are designed to help the student-interns learn valuable employment skills that will assist them in attaining competitive integrated employment. The student-interns have access to individualized job coaching and instruction from a Honesdale High School teacher and a skill trainer provided by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
