United SD students honor veterans

Veterans Honored at United Elementary School

In honor of Veterans Day, United Elementary School and United Junior/Senior High School held events to honor those who have served in the armed forces. All veterans were invited to attend a musical remembrance at the elementary school on Nov. 9, where each grade level of students shared a patriotic song with the audience. On Nov. 10, veterans attended a ceremony at the junior high school where students recognized and presented them each with a certificate of appreciation. The seventh grade chorus, the senior high chorus, and the high school band entertained those in attendance. “Echo Taps” was played by the trumpeters at the conclusion of the ceremony. Following this event, veterans joined the students for lunch then shared his or her own story about their military service.
