ThinkSTEM stirs students’ interest in learning
Middle-schoolers from the Athens Area, Northeast Bradford, Sayre Area, Sullivan County, Towanda Area and Wyalusing Area school districts are benefitting from an after-school program called ThinkSTEM, designed to help them discover new interests and ways of learning. As part of the STEM-focused program, students learn via hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering and math. According to the program’s website, ThinkSTEM’s emphasis is on students “exploring, experimenting and ultimately modeling the knowledge” they gain. There are no academic restrictions for application, and students in these districts may attend throughout the year when able. The program is funded by a grant from the 21st Century Community Learning Centers and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
