Summer camps keep students learning

A student participates in the district’s Manufacturing Career Camp

West Middlesex Area School District has been holding summer camps to keep students active and learning beyond the spring semester and introduce them to career options.

In Manufacturing Career Camp, students designed and built personalized Bluetooth speakers and did research on various manufacturing careers, visited manufacturing plants and presented their work at Linden Pointe Innovative Business Campus. STEAM Career Camp students designed a water slide and completed bubble experiments as their finale to the week. In Medical Detectives Camp and Human Body Investigations Career Camp, students in grades 9-11 learned all about the body systems through applied investigations. Investigations students are also are required to complete a job shadowing experience with UPMC later in the summer. For students who wanted to hone their athletic skills, Basketball and Track and Field camps were also held.
