Elizabeth “Lisa” Allen has been on the cutting edge since she started teaching in 1997.
From the start of her career she made technology an integral part of her classroom, and in the years since the AP Calculus teacher at Saucon Valley High School, Northampton County, has taken full advantage of the latest technology.
Teaching skills that keep students on the cutting edge is a key prerequisite of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, which Allen was awarded this past summer. She and 212 other recipients received their $10,000 awards at a ceremony held by the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C., which was attended by prominent educators, scientists, and members of the Obama administration.
