Students and staff from Sandy Run Middle School discuss the #ProjectLit book they are reading.

Ms. Laurie McGettigan, Sandy Run Middle School (SRMS) reading specialist, and Ms. Sam Connelly, SRMS librarian, brought #ProjectLit to the middle school. The first session was held, and the book When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed was discussed. Many staff and students alike attended the session to talk about the book.

Ms. McGettigan and Ms. Connelly are incredibly committed to inspiriting students to read by having students (and staff) read books with relatable characters so that students can see people like them in books. Research shows that students who read are students who succeed in school – and beyond school. There’s no doubt that this book discussion inspired students to read – and to wonder what book the Upper Dublin School District community will talk about next!
