Pleasant Valley places in art competition
Eight students from the Pleasant Valley School District Art Department recently placed in the regional Scholastics Art & Writing Competition. It was the district’s first time to compete. Thirty-three schools submitted more than 1,000 entries at this level of the contest and Pleasant Valley submitted 25 entries in these categories: film and animation, drawing and painting, photography, glass and ceramics, editorial cartoon, digital art and senior portfolio. The district had two Gold Key award winners, four Silver Key awards and two honorable mentions. Gold Key award winners will compete at the national level for $300,000 in scholarship awards. All participants attended an awards ceremony January 28 at Marywood University. To read more on Pleasant Valley visit the district’s Facebook page.
