Pine Grove Area project produces prosthetic hands for musicians
A recent project in the Pine Grove Area SD gave a student the chance to use 3D technology to create prosthetics. Education teacher Brad Fessler and student Nick Brown worked together to use a new 3D printer in the district to design and produce prosthetic hands. The hands were used to enable two music-loving students in the middle school to play instruments, beyond what their current prosthetics would allow. Fessler and Brown worked with the two students to make and test prototypes for more than a year. The students were very pleased with the results and the Pennsylvania Department of Education issued a special certificate to honor Brown for completing the challenging project.
