Palmerton’s Academic All-Star Athletes honored

Emma Christman and Kyle Sebelin were honored at the Colonial Athletic League’s All-Star Academic breakfast on April 28, 2022.

The Colonial Athletic League is home to 13 member school districts representing PIAA interscholastic athletics. Each year, they hold an All-Star Academic breakfast that celebrates the best and the brightest students from each school in the League. Recognized students are those who have a combination of athletic and academic success along with a demonstrated commitment to community service. This year, the two Academic All-Stars for the Palmerton Area Senior High School were Emma Christman and Kyle Sebelin.

Kyle is ranked first in his graduating class and has a 4.5 grade point average. Kyle participated in golf and basketball. He lettered in both sports and was inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) as a junior. He also serves as president of National Honor Society. Kyle will attend Penn State University where he will major in political science. Kyle also intends to go to law school after completing his undergraduate degree.

Emma is ranked 12th in her senior class with a 4.1 grade point average. Emma participated in field hockey and track and field. She lettered in both sports and was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior. Emma will attend Salisbury University where she will major in social work.

Mrs. Paula Husar, high school principal, said, “This is a very unique award because it celebrates how well-rounded our students are. We are very proud of them. They will represent Palmerton very well wherever they go in life.”
