Oley Valley students and staff help the community
Throughout the months of November and December the students and staff of Oley Valley Elementary School (OVES) participated in helping the local community. In November, more than $200 was raised for the annual Berks County Food Bank Pilgrim Drive. For each dollar donated, a paper pilgrim was hung in the hallway. The money collected was used to help local families who are in need.
In December, the OVES Student Council joined forces with the Parent Teacher Organization to raise money for the Angel Tree Project – an annual fundraising drive which donates gift cards to families in need during the holiday season. The elementary school conducted a week-long “coin war.” Students and staff were extremely giving and donated over and $2,700! Grade 5 was the winning class and received a soft pretzel party. The entire school received a hat day on Dec. 12 for their generosity.
