Norwin Junior ROTC members host a 2016 charity walk to benefit veterans

Norwin High School students joined with local veterans to place 1,400 American flags on veterans’ graves at the Irwin Union Cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day. According to an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the students reflected on and expressed a desire to honor the sacrifice the veterans had made while performing their task. The participating students are part of the school’s Norwin Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), an organization that promotes good character, community service and citizenship, in addition to providing training in aerospace studies, leadership education, physical fitness and military customs. Among other events, the group organizes a annual charity walk that benefits the Wounded Warriors Project.
