Literacy is a top priority at Clark Wood Elementary

A “Book Fair Guide” helps students make selections at Clark Wood Elementary’s Family Night at the Book Fair.
Clark Wood Elementary School is making literacy a priority through curriculum choices and special community events. According to the school’s website, students at Clark Wood read about 27,000 books per year through the Accelerated Reading Program – which averages to 90 books per student! An Accelerated Reader Wall of Fame displays the names of students who read the most. Through the support of the staff and student council, more than $800 worth of prizes are distributed to students as incentives for reading throughout the year. A family reading night is held each month with guest readers, and staff distribute a free book to every child who attends. The school also hosts an annual Family Night at the Book Fair – an opportunity for families to celebrate literacy and grow their own home libraries.
