Leechburg Area plans “Loving Kindness” for students
Leechburg Area High School students want to leave something positive for younger students before graduation.
On Friday afternoon, they will bring the “Get on Board With Loving Kindness” program to prekindergarten through fifth graders. The program encourages students to act appropriately. They are leaving this to the younger students and will ask them to pass the positive attitude to other people,” high school Principal Doug Rogers said Tuesday. “The seniors came up with the concept to take it to the younger students,” Rogers said. “Three seniors will visit each of the younger student classrooms and have conversations with them.” The seniors will wear the “Get on Board With Loving Kindness” T-shirts from area youth advocate Hank Commodore.“We want this to light the torch that can spread this to other schools,” Commodore said.He said the positive attitude campaign at a Harmar recreation center attracted 600 people.
Similar rallies are planned in schools in Armstrong and Westmoreland counties, he said.
