Ross Elementary empowers girls through program
As Ross Elementary School a group of third- through fifth-grade girls participated in a 10-week program designed to promote health and positive thinking: Girls on the Run. The program has been implemented in schools around the country as a way to get girls moving and teach them important life skills known as the “6 Cs”– caring, character, confidence, competence, connection and contribution. At Ross, the girls gathered after school with their coach twice a week for a run and some fun activities. During the last two weeks of the fall semester program they completed a service project. The program ended for with a 5K run held at Millersville University. Each participant had a running partner age 16 or older to encourage them along the way.
