Eyer students enjoy apple day

Mrs. Maurer’s Eyer Middle School class had a fun apple day on October 8! Miss Lanigan had the kiddos walk up to an apple tree at Shoemaker Elementary school. They shook the tree, picked apples and then walked back to the classroom. They then peeled, cored and diced the apples, and put them in a crockpot for applesauce.

They then did an experiment by making apple volcanoes using baking soda, vinegar, water, dish soap and soda. They tried pouring different liquids mixed with a different number of scoops of baking soda. It was fun to figure out what made more foam/bubbles!

The students did a great job of answering questions, following directions, labeling parts/features, labeling objects/actions, stating functions of objects, labeling position concepts and more.

They tasted the applesauce at the end of the day and some of the kids LOVED it!
