The Palmerton Area School District’s “Fill the Cart” food drive overflowed with success.

Students, employees, and local community members joined forces to “Fill the Cart” in the Palmerton Area School District’s first annual districtwide food drive. Food donations were collected for two local organizations: Raising the House and Faith Alive Church. Both organizations took the food donations, filled backpacks and then worked with school guidance counselors to select families in the Palmerton Area School District to receive a backpack. In addition to the food items collected during this food drive, Country Harvest Family Market donated a $100 gift card to each organization. These gift cards enabled both organizations to purchase additional backpack items.

Dr. Frankelli, Palmerton Area School District’s superintendent said, “The success of this food drive is just one of the many examples of our town uniting for a worthwhile cause. This is a generous community that has no problem assisting those who may need it.”

Sam Heiney, Faith Alive Church’s backpack coordinator said, “The support for our program for the children of the Palmerton Area School District has always been amazing. The recent food drive was above and beyond generous.”

Tammy House, Raising the House’s co-founder and board member said, “WOW is all I can say. All of the donations are such a big help.”
