Corry students wins PETA award for her kindness.

The students and staff at Corry Area Intermediate School (CAIS) wanted to make a difference for Random Acts of Kindness Day 2021. Each grade 3-5, collected loose change during the month of February. Students chose to make their donations to a charity run by a former student. Avery Sontheimer is currently an eighth grader at Corry Middle School. She started her own charity, Avery’s Pawsitive Change, to help provide resources for animal shelters across the country. Avery is an inspiration for all of the students at CAIS. She has raised over $17,000 for animal shelters in the U.S., all from her hospital bed while battling an aggressive form of cancer. She was recently given the Hero to Animals award by PETA. Avery and her charity hold a special place in the hearts of the students and staff at Corry Intermediate School. For this reason, they raised close to $1000 for Avery’s Pawsitive Change!
