Columbia Borough SD-Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology partnership extends STEM learning over summer months
Many students experience a regression in educational achievement from the end of the school in spring to the beginning of school is late summer – the “summer slide.” Columbia Borough works with Thaddeus Stevens College’s STEM Summer Experience Camps to build excitement in middle grade students about science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on exploratory experiences and career awareness about a myriad of trades and technology-related fields. The Summer STEM Camps are one part of Thaddeus Stevens College’s K-12 Pathways to Achievement STEM Initiatives and includes the popular STEM in Gear mobile education unit.
The programs are sponsored by direct contributions from area foundations as well as many businesses and industries donations. For more information on the Thaddeus Stevens STEM in Gear Truck, see https://stevenscollege.edu/about/k-12-programs/stem-in-gear/
