Math education and fun go together at Blairsville-Saltsburg SD
Learning math is has become more enjoyable at Saltsburg Middle/High School due to a new software program implemented by learning support teacher Amanda Anderson and math instructor Tiara Stossel. Students are using Reflex Math on their school-issued Chromebooks or Apple iPads to strengthen foundational math skills by playing educational “games.” There have been several benefits, although the program is still in the early stages of implementation. According to an article in the Indiana Gazette, educators have seen greater interest in math in some students since the program was started. It has also helped teachers pinpoint areas that need extra review in class — Reflex Math monitors individual students’ progress so educators can identify who needs extra help and in what areas.
