Alyssa Colon, a sophomore student at West York Area High School, won Best Vocals at the YorVoice 2020 music competition held virtually on August 15. The competition was streamed for free online on Facebook, YouTube Live and WRCTV Channel 18. Alyssa sang an original song including a variety of musical genres. For many years, she has been working with teachers in the West York Area School District to hone her vocal skills and grow as an artist.

According to the competition website, the York community competition hosted by The Cultural Alliance of York County is “a friendly competition bringing the community together to enjoy listening to a night filled with talented musicians who want to share their love of music with others. The YorVoice mission is to inspire York pride, celebrate the arts and their impact on our community, highlight local talent, and most importantly, raise awareness for our 2020 Annual Campaign.” The annual campaign “supports cultural agencies and artists that are essential to York’s cultural core and bring arts and culture to life in the county.”
