Students give community a ‘Tune-Up’

More than 800 Altoona Area High School students and teachers helped plan and participated in the annual Toona Tune-Up, a community service and engagement project that aims to clean up local neighborhoods and parks. According to an article in the Altoona Mirror, the group worked from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. painting, planting, weeding and clearing trash at many locations including 15 city parks and five city gateways, downtown area, and the Railroad Museum, Baker Mansion, Veteran’s Memorial and 911 Center. The school plans the yearly event in conjunction with Central Blair Recreation Commission.
