A celebration of books and reading

March at Oley Valley Elementary School has been such a celebration of books and reading! During the first week of March we celebrated Read Across America Week, dressed like a Dr. Seuss character, and introduced our new Little Free Library to our students during L:EAP classes.

Our spring Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success. The coin drive and raffle fundraisers made it possible to add $2,000 worth of new books to our school library and classrooms.

March also started our One School, One Book event. Each family at the elementary school received a copy of The Wild Robot by author Peter Brown. Roz the robot and her new friends have been added to our hallway and activities so far have included: prizes for Trivia Tuesday winners (including Book Fair books), camouflaging our own robot, a nickel drive for Berks Nature, and Build a Robot Makerspace Station challenges. We appreciate the generosity of the Oley Valley Community Education Foundation that made this community reading event possible.
