10th Annual Trojan Family Christmas

Greater Johnstown School District brings the holidays to city neighborhoods.

On Tuesday, December 22, Johnstown Elementary Teachers brought the 10th annual Trojan Family Christmas to our 1,200 students in their neighborhoods. It’s unfortunate that the district couldn’t invite the families into the high school as it has over the past nine years. However, school leaders recognized that the students, teachers, and families needed a little holiday cheer. Teachers and school leaders delivered a large gift bag filled with educational and health essentials, as well as some fun and food items.

They arrived on buses to 40 designated locations throughout the district on 13 “sleighs” provided by McIlwain School Bus Lines. Each family was sent notification of their designated time and site to reduce crowds. The local media, WJAC and the Tribune-Democrat reported the positive holiday story. “In a year where so many events and activities have been cancelled, we knew we could pull together as a community and deliver concern, caring and hope, said Superintendent Amy Arcurio. ” I couldn’t be more proud of our folks as we have a long tradition of Trojans taking care of each other.”
